Slow Down.

Sometimes, life is just a little too busy. My husband works so hard for our family, and does everything that he can to be amazing in everything that he does. A lot of the time, I forget how precious the moments we have together actually are.

Most nights, my time is consumed with cleaning, laundry, etc. rather than simply enjoying a TV show with my man.

Time to focus on what matters most: family.

Friday.

Experiencing writer's block, mostly because today is just one of those days. So here's what I have to say, despite my inability to form a coherent blog post...

Choose to use kind words.

And here's my puppy, Buttercup (picture courtesy of my momma).

That's all for today. Happy weekend, everyone!

Three Months!

Today marks three amazing months with my husband! He has taught me so much in this short amount of time, and I am super grateful for him.

Things I've Learned:

1. Always apologize... Even when you don't want to.
2. Express your love daily, hourly, minute-ly, etc.
3. Pray together (and hold hands while you're praying).
4. Cuddle every night.
5. Let the little things go.
6. Laughter really is the best medicine.
7. Trust, trust, trust.
8. Work on being a better you.
9. Go on adventures together.
10. Look for the big picture.

My husband truly is my best friend and my hero. He works so hard for our family and is always willing to do anything for me. I could not have asked for a better person to spend eternity with! He teaches me something new every single day. And he does nice things for me all the time, like buy me awesome chocolate for our three month anniversary...

Thanks, babe! You're the bomb.

I'm so grateful for him and all that he does!

Uphill.

So today I was making the long journey from my last class to work. And let me tell you, this walk is a workout. Not only is it far away (by my standards), but it is also uphill about 75% of the way. And I have to make the walk pretty quickly in order to make it on time.

Today was extra-special, considering that the weather is absolutely horrendous. So I'm climbing what feels like Mount Everest in the freezing cold rain, toting my full backpack, and regretting my choice of large purse.

(I promise to stop complaining and get to the good part soon!)

Just as I was getting frustrated with the weather and the walk, the bell tower played the normal tune as it hit the hour mark. Hearing the familiar tune of "Come, Come Ye Saints" completely calmed me down.

I began to realize that my small trek to work everyday is nothing in comparison to what the Saints endured in their travels to the West. And even that is so minuscule compared to the pain that the Savior endured when he was crucified.

I am so grateful that Jesus paid the price for me. I am so grateful for the Saints who were willing to risk their lives for the gospel. And I am so grateful for little moments in the day that help me to remember these things.

Life is an uphill battle, but we don't have to do it alone. All is well, all is well.

PS: If you don't know the hymn "Come, Come Ye Saints," you can listen to it here.

Happy Day.

Well, today has been more or less uneventful.

But it's a great day to be alive! I am so grateful for everything that I have been blessed with. My husband does such a good job of taking care of me. I am a happy girl!

PS: Only 15 days left of school!!

Viva Las Vegas!

We had the best weekend in Las Vegas. I got to meet so many amazing people. And the weather was AMAZING. I can't wait to go back! As promised, here are some pictures from our trip!

From the drive down.

Friday Night
The Las Vegas Strip

Waaaaaay past our bedtime!

Who knew I'd get to see Paris too?!

And New York!

Way, way past our bedtime!

In the Bellagio. Apparently, they change this every season!

Saturday
Visiting friends and the temple!

Las Vegas Temple with my man.

So, we tried to get an artistic jumping picture.... It didn't work out. Hahaha.

Sunday Morning
We went to visit some friends, and I got to watch this cuteness all morning until church!

Then Gracie got a hold of the camera....

Then Nicci wanted a turn....

Sunday Afternoon
The trip home.

St. George Temple! (From afar)

We had so much fun and are so grateful for all the families we got to visit and that let us stay in their homes! We are already excited for our next trip out in June for Nicci's BAPTISM

It's Okay.

Disclaimer: Since I left my camera at home, I will be posting once more tonight to share my pictures/adventures from Vegas!

Today, I have (re) learned a very valuable lesson. Men and women are different, and that's okay. We won't always agree, and that's okay too.

President Ezra Taft Benson told us, "Women were not created to be the same as men." As simple as that statement is, it is something I definitely needed to hear. The talk continues on to tell us that our attributes are meant to complement each other. There is a reason we have fundamental differences.

Sometimes pouring out all of my feelings is not the best idea, but sometimes it is exactly what I need. Sometimes the silence is what makes a moment so great, but sometimes laughter is better. Sometimes it's fun to go out on a romantic date, but sometimes a night in is just as good. Sometimes a tickle fight is necessary, but sometimes a hug is better.

.... And my husband gets that. (Thank goodness!)

It can be frustrating when someone else just "doesn't understand," but when we take a moment to step back and see the big picture, there is nothing better than having someone around to challenge you.

I am so grateful for a husband who isn't just like me. He challenges me, and helps me to grow in ways that are rewarding. The best part is that he is patient with me along the journey. He knows I am not perfect, and I know he isn't either. But it is so good to have someone next to me who is trying to be better, and who helps me to be better all at the same time.

Men and women are different. And that's okay.

Grey Matter.

Today, while sitting in my English class, I had a huge realization. My classmates were debating about African American literature and the "rights" and "privileges" of people, black vs. white, etc. As I was sitting there, I realized... Life is simple. Why do we over-complicate the sheer beauty of the simplicity of it all?

The Gospel of Jesus Christ is simple. He died for us, so that we could have a chance to live with our Heavenly Father once again.
Love is simple. We choose to live our lives with another person as our companion. And because we love that person, we treat them with kindness and respect.
Life is simple. We are here to go through trials and to experience things so that we can learn and become better.

There is nothing more beautiful than the simple things in life. The details are not what's important. So rather than spending our time debating over skin color and other unimportant things, we should try to focus on the simple fact that we are all sons and daughters of a loving Heavenly Father and we are here to be kind to others and to learn. The rest is simply grey matter.

That's all.

Simply beautiful.

For now.

Today is day one of A Person to be Loved. And to be honest, I don't really have a direction for it yet, but I'm sure I'll figure that part out later. For now, we'll just stick with the random thoughts floating around in my mind.

1. My husband is the bomb.
2. I wish Biology class was over, mostly because I am not interested in learning about Genetically Modified plants.
3. I need to do laundry and clean the car so that we can go to VEGAS tomorrow!!
4. I hate doing laundry.
5. But I like clean clothes, so it's worth it.

Overall, today has been a normal day. On a more exciting note, there will be lots of pictures of Vegas from this weekend! So pumped.

Oh, and here's an inspirational quote to make your day happy!
